da Weekend

Early Saturday morning trip to the post office.
shopping at the local stores.
Mid afternoon visit to the farm.
Locally grown freshwater shrimp (sister pick up on her way in).
Early bday celebration for Dad.
Late Sunday evening outing to the farm.
Can you see the two deers in the treeline?
Did some scouting around the farm.
Went by downtown on the (long) way home.
The Keesler Bridge over the Yazoo River.
It was a nice cool weekend. The temps dropped like 15 degrees with a little rain on Saturday. Ran some early errands including picking up a package at the post office from my sister's-in-law (Boston) for my Dad's coming birthday. My sister was in town briefly too, to celebrate Dad's bday early. She stopped by freshwater shrimp hatchery / farm outside of Leland so we can sample these seasonal treats. Dad made a batch of Ketchup Shrimp, yum!

So we did the cake / pie thingee early (Dad's actual birthday is Tuesday). It was nice to see my sister  even if it was for a day before she had to go back to work on Monday.

Went out to the farm later in the day, spotted a total of five deers (mostly does and fawns) hiding in the edge of the woods. I believed Mississippi archery season has already started for deer (October 1st). Not sure if I'll be deer hunting at all this year since none of us really enjoy eating venison but I'll definitely will try squirrel hunting when the season opens next week. On our way home, we swung by downtown to go by the old family business and checked on some repair work on another building before heading home.
